Cafe Milano

Caffe Milano : Coffee Shop Concept Development

This small Armenian owned coffee shop in the Sunset District of San Francisco was badly in need of renovation. The problems included limited storage, limited seating, no prep space, and an unattractive exterior. The design concept for the renovation was based on the idea of the Italian piazza café with a seamless flow from inside to outside using Old World materials and architectural details; marble floors, stucco exterior, Venetian plaster walls, arches, and columns. The front wall of the seating area opens to the sidewalk so that on sunny days the café is open air. The timeless design provides an inviting vacation from the pressures of everyday life, where old friends meet for coffee and pastries, and enjoy the feeling of being in another world.
