Northampton Place – Exterior

Northampton Place – Exterior

This 16-story high rise in Alexandria, VA was originally delivered in 2005 and was ready for it’s first significant update in 15 years. The scope of the project included almost all amenity areas on the first floor, the front lobby, a raw space that had never been built out, and both the front exterior and back courtyard exterior. The design process went through several iterations, but the end result brought this desirable property back to its high-end reputation.

Exterior – The goal for the front entry renovation was to create a more impactful experience as residents and visitors came through the front of the building. The design solution included updating and adding new exterior sconces that provided visual importance and increased the amount of light. Architectural interest and detail were created by adding a stacked stone base, color coordinated quoins, lintels and horizontal panels. For continuity, the architectural details were carried into the courtyard. To make the space more vibrant for residents, we created fire pit areas with seating, and added new gas grills, planters and small seating groups.
